Joyce Lofton
Biography





Joyce Lofton is from a singing family. Born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She started singing at the age of three in her father's church. By the time she entered school, she was welcomed into the music department because her older siblings were also gifted musicians. All ten children sing and are often one of the main events at their family reunions hosted in Atlanta, Las Vegas, Milwaukee and Arkansas among other places in the U.S.

Joyce has been sing a variety of styles including gospel, jazz, inspirational and rhythm and blues since her childhood. Joyce began singing in Dallas, Texas after graduating from Bishop College. She coordinated and sang for special events at the Lucent Technology Plant in Mesquite, Texas for 20 years. She performed at the Sunday Bunch at the White Swan Cafe in the Lakewood area. She had sung for class reunions, anniversary celebrations, birthday parties, Tea's Special Events and weddings for many years before she decided to start singing jazz. She also sang at the Harvey Hotel where Andrew Young was the speaker for the Black Alliance Conference.

Her career in jazz started at the South Dallas Cultural Center where she sang for the Booker T. Washington Alumni Fund Raiser and the Etta La Bamba Fund Raiser two years in a row sponsored by the Omega Phi Pi's . Events included the Irvin Art's Museum and the Verizon Black History Program. She also performs at the Dallas Museum of Art, sponsored by 107.5 the Oasis radio station as well as the Sammons Jazz Series, sponsored by the Dallas Morning News. Also, Joyce has entertained at the TASO Conference for the Official Referees of College Ball.

She was recently interviewed by KPRS 103.3 radio station in Kansas City, Kansas while singing at a Taekwondo Banquet. KPRS 103.3 will be playing the blues tune, "Don't Take It Out On Me" from her debut CD, Deja Vu. Romance One Radio in Memphis Tennessee added Joyce's song "I Wish I Didn't Love You So" to their station's music rotation in November, 2006.

Joyce has sung in wide and varying places, such as Alaska, Hawaii, Dominican Republic and St. Martin.
